Dubai: Gulf Madhyamam has been awarded the Dubai Global Village Award for its comprehensive coverage of the annual event in the foreign languages category. Salih Kottappalli, the Middle East Head of Gulf Madhyamam, was awarded the gold medal worth 13,000 Dirhams (2.85 lakhs Indian Rupees), along with a memento from the Global Village.

Shinoj Shamsudheen, the Principal Correspondent of Media One, also won the award in the Social Media Impact category. The awards were announced at an event held at Dubai Global Village, and presented by CEO of Dubai Holding Entertainment, Fernando Eiroa, and MD and COO of Dubai Holding Entertainment, Muhammad Sharaf.

Gulf Madhyamam is the only Indian newspaper on the list of winners, and this is the second consecutive year that the newspaper has won the award. The award recognises the excellent reports about the 27th edition of the internationally acclaimed Global Village, a melting pot of cultures worldwide.

Salih has been an editorial board member of Madhyamam since 2014. He is the son of Thalavancheri Meethal Ibrahim and Maryam and hails from Vadakara Kottappalli. Salih and his wife Hadiya have three children, Aman Ibrahim, Ayan Sufi, and Amina Sidr.
