'First Arab Lady of the Year' award entitled to Latifa bint Mohammed

Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, has been declared as the recipient of the First Arab Lady of the Year award.

The Arab Women Authority presented the award, acknowledging her role in improving Dubai's cultural and creative sector by supporting various innovative cultural initiatives that have enriched the local and regional cultural landscape. As part of a visionary strategy to transform Dubai into a global cultural centre and an international hub for artistic and creative activity, Sheikha Latifa is currently paving the way towards the goal.

"We are proud that an Arab woman has devoted herself to enhancing the stature of art and culture and highlighting the vital role this sector plays in promoting engagement between the Arab world and other civilisations throughout history," said Mohammed Al-Dulaimi, Secretary-General of the Arab Women Authority.

Al-Dulaimi added that the Board of Trustees recognised Sheikha Latifa for her contributions to launching initiatives aimed at strengthening the region's cultural sector and for her sustenance for the creative arts, which has enriched Arab societies by promoting aesthetic and human values. The Arab Women Authority will honour Sheikha Latifa later at a ceremony.

The Arab League launched the First Arab Lady Award in 2004. It is entitled to an Arab woman who has made exceptional contributions to humanitarian and creative development that has advanced Arab societies every four years.
