FIFA announced that Dubai will host the “FIFA Unites: Women’s Series” from October 23 to 29.

The four-team tournament is part of FIFA’s efforts to expand opportunities in women’s football and ensure women and girls have the right to play the game. It will also feature the Afghan women’s refugee team in their first international competition, a project developed by FIFA.

The Afghan team will play against the national teams of the United Arab Emirates, Chad and Libya.

The UAE, coached by Dutch manager Vera Pauw, will aim to continue building on recent performances, while Chad and Libya are seeking their first entries in the FIFA/Coca-Cola Women’s World Ranking.

“Ensuring that all women have access to football is a priority for FIFA and a key element in shaping the future of our sport”, said FIFA President Gianni Infantino.

“We are aware of the potential the game has both on and off the pitch. These friendly matches represent more than just a competition; they are a symbol of hope and progress for women all over the world".

Infantino thanked the UAE Football Association for hosting the series.
