Etihad Rail runs special service to move 350 passengers after flight suspensions
text_fieldsEtihad Rail operated special train services between Al Ghuwaifat in Al Dhafra and Al Faya in Abu Dhabi to transport stranded travelers following temporary flight suspensions linked to regional developments.
The service, carried out under the supervision of the Emergencies, Crises and Disasters Management Centre Abu Dhabi, moved more than 350 passengers before the official launch of the passenger rail network.
Authorities said the trains were deployed as part of coordinated arrangements with Saudi counterparts to facilitate cross-border procedures and speed up implementation.
Emergency and safety plans were activated immediately, with technical and operational teams assigned to ensure smooth operations. Freight services across the national rail network continued without interruption.
Matar Saeed Al Nuaimi, Director General of ADCMC, said the move reflected the readiness of national institutions to respond to developments and highlighted the operational capacity of the country’s railway network.
