text_fieldsEtihad Rail has completed Fujairah Passenger Station ahead of the phased launch of passenger operations later this year.
The station, located in the Madinat Al Hilal area, spans 51,900 square metres and is the first passenger station completed under the national railway project.
Adhraa Al Mansoori, Executive Director of Commercial at Etihad Rail, said the station occupies a strategic location close to major landmarks and tourist destinations in Fujairah.
She said the station is about 12 minutes from Fujairah International Airport, six minutes from Umbrella Beach Corniche and five minutes from Sakamkam Fort.
Al Mansoori said the passenger rail network is expected to support economic activity and improve transport connectivity within the emirate.
Passenger services linking Fujairah with Dubai and Abu Dhabi are expected to create investment opportunities across several sectors, she added.
Travel time between Fujairah and Abu Dhabi will be about 105 minutes, with trains operating at speeds of up to 200kph and carrying as many as 400 passengers.
Al Mansoori said 70 per cent of materials used in developing the national railway network were sourced locally through 97 domestic suppliers.
She added that the first operational phase will include the simultaneous launch of three routes connecting Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Fujairah, while schedules will be announced closer to the launch date.
The station includes retail outlets, a VIP lounge, high-speed Wi-Fi, dining carriages, waiting areas, automated payment machines and passenger service facilities to improving customer experience.
