Emirates cancels Dhaka flights amid Bangladesh unrest

Dubai-headquartered Emirates has suspended flights to Dhaka due to the ongoing civil unrest in Bangladesh.

Passengers scheduled to connect on flights to Dhaka on August 6 will not be accepted for travel from their point of origin.

Emirates is closely monitoring the situation and advises customers who booked directly to contact local offices for rebooking options, while those who booked through travel agents should seek alternative arrangements.

The airline recommends checking the 'Manage Your Booking' page for updates.

Etihad Airways had already ceased operations in Dhaka in 2023.

On Monday, Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina resigned and fled the country, ending her 15-year rule after widespread protests on Sunday killed nearly 100 people.

Bangladeshi missions in the UAE have urged citizens to exercise restraint and adhere to local laws.
