Dubai: The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai is set to introduce 30 electric buses in key areas including Business Bay, Al Wasl Road and Dubai Mall, aligning with the city's zero-emission transport strategy.

While the fee structure for electric buses is yet to be announced, a trial service was previously introduced from La Mer to Al Sufouh, offering free rides to passengers. During the trial, commuters tapped their NOL cards but were not charged.

The electric bus route covered several significant locations including La Mer South, Umm Suqeim Park, Burj Al Arab and Dubai Offshore Sailing Club. RTA aims to gradually transition its current bus fleet from internal combustion engines to electric, emphasizing environmental sustainability.

Dubai's clean energy strategy emphasizes the importance of electric and hybrid vehicles, alongside energy-efficient infrastructure, aligning with RTA's efforts to promote eco-friendly transportation solutions.
