Dubai is set to kick off the sixth edition of the Dubai Labour Sports Tournament, which will launch on September 15, 2024 and run until February 23, 2025. Organized by the Dubai Sports Council (DSC) in partnership with the Permanent Committee of Labour Affairs, Dubai Police and the Federal Authority for Identity & Citizenship, this year’s tournament will host over 46,000 workers from 270 companies, an all-time high in participation.

The event, held under the slogan “Making them happy is our goal,” will feature 12 sports across 10 venues in the Emirate.

Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of DSC, said, “The Dubai Labour Sports Tournament is a joint initiative aimed at appreciating the efforts of workers in building the nation. This distinguished event allows them to engage in sports that foster health, happiness, and a positive spirit, which contributes to increased productivity".

The tournament’s growth reflects its success, with more sports disciplines and participants joining this year. Workers from 31 nationalities will compete in 873 teams across multiple championships, ranging from football to yoga and badminton.

Brigadier Ali Al Mansouri from Dubai Police said, “The increase in sports and participants shows the soundness of our plan to make Dubai the happiest and safest city in the world".

Major General Obaid Muhair bin Surour, Chairman of the Permanent Committee of Labour Affairs, reiterated the importance of the event.

“This tournament contributes to the health and happiness of workers, and we aim for participation to surpass the 100,000 mark in the future. Their happiness is integral to our mission of making Dubai the best place to work and live", said General Obaid.
