Dubai RTA to pilot school bus pooling this year
text_fieldsDubai’s Roads and Transport Authority will run a pilot program for pooled school transport in the first quarter of 2026 as part of efforts to ease congestion around schools and reduce reliance on private car drop-offs.
The trial will be carried out with Yango Group and Urban Express Transport after the three parties signed memoranda of understanding. Under the plan, shared buses will serve students from several schools located within specific geographic areas, rather than operating on single-school routes.
RTA said the service will rely on digital systems to manage trips, track vehicles and oversee operations. The authority added that the pilot will meet all safety, security and regulatory standards that apply to school transport in Dubai, while supporting smoother traffic movement and daily travel for students.
The agreements were signed by Ahmed Hashem Bahrozyan, chief executive of RTA’s Public Transport Agency, Islam Abdul Karim, regional head of Yango Group and Dr Mohammad Al Hashimi, founder and chief executive of Urban Express Transport.
