Dubai RTA launches awards for top delivery companies, riders

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced the launch of the Delivery Sector Excellence Award, aimed at encouraging competition among delivery companies while improving service quality and road safety.

RTA said the award is intended to recognise delivery companies and riders who meet high professional and safety standards. Four award categories have been introduced: Best Partner, Best Delivery Company via Smart Platforms and Apps, Best Delivery Company, and Best Delivery Rider.

According to the authority, the initiative is designed to acknowledge performance, service quality and compliance with regulations across the delivery sector, while highlighting companies and riders that demonstrate responsible practices.

The announcement follows regulatory changes introduced in 2025 that restrict delivery riders from using high-speed lanes on major roads in the emirate. Under the rules, delivery bikes are prohibited from using the two leftmost lanes on roads with five or more lanes and the leftmost lane on roads with three or four lanes. On two-lane roads or smaller streets, riders are permitted to use either lane.

RTA said delivery riders welcomed the restrictions due to safety concerns. The authority added that riders who comply with the lane regulations will be considered for recognition under the new award scheme.

Separately, RTA last month began issuing an additional front licence plate for motorcycles and e-bikes used in corporate delivery services. Previously, such vehicles carried only a rear plate. The new plates feature a gold background with black lettering and display the code (9), appearing on both the front and rear of the vehicle.
