Dubai is gearing up for a smooth and festive New Year celebration with extended public transport services to ensure seamless travel for residents and visitors. Starting December 31, Dubai Metro and Tram will operate nonstop for over 43 hours, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced on Tuesday.

Dubai Metro will run continuously from 5am on December 31 until the end of January 1, while Dubai Tram services will be operational from 6am on December 31 until 1am on January 2. These extended hours aim to ease travel and reduce congestion during the city's grand New Year festivities.

To further support smooth transportation, the RTA is deploying a fleet of 1,400 buses, available free of charge, and providing additional parking spaces across the city. Hussain Al Bana, Executive Director of Traffic at the RTA, emphasized that the initiative will offer celebrators convenient transport options while minimizing traffic congestion during the celebrations.

To manage the large crowds expected near popular destinations, Dubai Mall Metro Station will be closed from 5pm on December 31 or earlier if it reaches full capacity. The public is advised to use nearby metro stations as alternatives.

Authorities are urging the public to opt for public transportation to avoid delays and ensure a stress-free experience as the city comes alive to ring in 2024.

The extended Metro and Tram services, coupled with free buses and increased parking facilities, reflect Dubai’s commitment to facilitating safe and convenient travel during one of the busiest nights of the year.
