Dubai metro celebrates 15th anniversary with scholarships for 15 students
text_fieldsThe Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced an innovative scholarship program today, targeting 15 students born on September 9, 2009, to celebrate the Dubai Metro's 15th anniversary. This initiative is a strategic part of the Dubai Social Agenda 33. It mirrors the vision of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, aiming to cultivate the nation's human capital.
The scholarship program is designed in three progressive phases. Initially, students will undergo two years of practical training at RTA during school breaks, engage in railway-focused training with strategic partners and participate in field visits to railway project sites.
The second phase will span four to five years of university studies, where students will pursue specialized bachelor’s degrees in railway-related engineering. This period also includes internships at RTA, leadership forums, key event participation and continued site visits.
Upon graduation, these students will enter the workforce at RTA’s Rail Agency through the Fast Track Programme, which focuses on developing technical and administrative skills over two years. This phase ensures rapid career progression and equips them with accredited certifications in Project Management and Value Engineering, along with extensive specialized training.
Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA, emphasized the program's alignment with Dubai's vision for a futuristic transport sector.
"RTA remains steadfast in its mission to cultivate and empower Emirati talent. By fostering a nurturing environment, we are preparing a new generation of leaders capable of anticipating future challenges and crafting innovative solutions to drive Dubai's progress. This effort will contribute to advancing RTA's growth and development agenda, both now and in the future", said Tayer.
Additionally, RTA has recently launched the 'Professional Engineering Career Path' initiative, a pioneering approach in the UAE to structure career pathways in specialized engineering roles that meet market demands and enhance job stability. The 'Fast Track' initiative also aims to attract top Emirati engineering graduates, preparing them for critical roles within RTA.
