Dubai declares Eid Al Adha holidays for public sector workers

The Dubai Government Human Resources Department has officially declared Eid Al Adha holidays for public sector employees, granting a four-day break starting Thursday, June 5 and ending Sunday, June 8. Work will resume on Monday, June 9.

The holiday announcement aligns with the UAE federal government’s directive, which confirmed a unified Eid break for both public and private sectors from June 5 to June 8.

However, the Dubai advisory clarified that employees working in shifts or those responsible for essential public services are excluded from this schedule and will follow separate operational arrangements.

The holiday dates were set following the sighting of the Dhul Hijjah crescent on Tuesday evening, May 28. As a result, May 28 was declared the first day of Dhul Hijjah. The Day of Arafah will fall on Thursday, June 5, and Eid Al Adha will commence on Friday, June 6.

The extended break marks one of the longest public holidays of the year, allowing residents ample time for celebration and travel.
