Construction has officially begun on Dubai's first aerial taxi vertiport near Dubai International Airport (DXB), as announced by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE.

"We commenced construction on Dubai’s first aerial taxi vertiport near Dubai International Airport," Sheikh Hamdan posted on X, highlighting the project's significance for the future of urban transport.

Spanning 3,100 square meters, the new facility will accommodate up to 42,000 landings and 170,000 passengers annually. The initial service phase will cover four major areas: Downtown Dubai, Dubai Marina, Palm Jumeirah, and Dubai International Airport, with operations set to launch in early 2026.

According to Sheikh Hamdan, "Dubai continues to shape the future of global mobility with its steadfast commitment to innovation, safety and sustainability."

Once operational, Dubai will become the first city globally to introduce a comprehensive urban aerial transport network, marking a significant milestone in sustainable urban mobility.

The project is being developed in partnership with Skyports, featuring designated take-off and landing zones, electric charging points, passenger facilities and robust security protocols to ensure a safe and seamless experience for all users.
