Dubai announces new year's eve road closures, including Sheikh Zayed Road
text_fieldsDubai will implement gradual road closures starting at 4pm on December 31 as part of preparations for the New Year’s Eve celebrations, according to Hussain Al Bana, executive director of traffic at the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
Residents and visitors planning to attend fireworks displays in Downtown Dubai and other popular locations are advised to begin their journeys early and use public transport. Al Bana also urged those not attending the festivities in these areas to leave beforehand and guests with reservations to ensure arrival before 4pm.
"The closure of roads at all locations will start at about 4pm on December 31", he said.
The following roads will be closed during the event:
- Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard: Closed from 4pm
- Financial Centre Street's Lower Deck: Closed from 4pm
- Al Mustaqbal Street: Closed from 4pm
- Burj Khalifa Street: Closed from 4pm
- Al Asayel Road (from Oud Metha Road to Burj Khalifa): Closed from 4pm
- Al Sukuk Street: Closed from 8pm
- Upper Level of Financial Road: Closed from 8pm
- Sheikh Zayed Road: Gradual closure begins at 11pm
Dedicated viewing areas for workers have been arranged in collaboration with the Permanent Committee for Labour Affairs. These zones will include large screens and meal services, allowing workers to enjoy the celebrations safely while avoiding overcrowded locations.
Special zones for family viewers have also been designated, with further details to be announced.
Authorities are urging the public to plan their trips in advance and follow the guidelines to ensure smooth and safe celebrations.
