Abu Dhabi awards honour Yusufali and 11 others

The 10th edition of the Abu Dhabi Awards has honoured the Indian businessman M.A. Yusufali as one of the 12 extraordinary individuals for their contribution to the community. On Friday, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan awarded several Abu Dhabi residents, including nationals and expatriates, as a tribute for their devotion and efforts towards the emirate in several fields such as healthcare, community service and volunteering, philanthropical work, culture, heritage and environmental preservation, state-run WAM reported.

"The UAE's values continue to reflect the deeply-held faith of our Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who believed in the kindness, humanity, and generosity of people," said Sheikh Mohamed yesterday night. "We celebrate 12 extraordinary individuals who chose to practice these values every day through their noble and charitable work, making our country and communities stronger."

  • Chairman of conglomerate LuLu Group International Yusufali M.A. was acknowledged for his support through various charitable and community-based initiatives in the UAE, which have bettered the quality of many local communities. "Driven by his belief in the importance of education and its role in developing sustainable and prosperous communities, Yusufali has funded the education of countless students," said the juries.
  • Being one of the pioneers of the United Arab Emirates Armed Forces, retired Lieutenant General Obaid Mohammed Al-Kaabi was awarded for his contribution in the Al Ain community development.
  • Ghubaisha Al-Ketbi, also a recipient of the Community Service Medal by the Abu Dhabi Police in 2020, was honoured for volunteering and humanitarian efforts during the pandemic. Hussain Khansaheb and Faraj Ali Al-Dhaheri were also lauded for their philanthropic works in the country.
  • Fatima Al-Refaei, founder of Emirates Nursing Association (2003) and the current adviser for nursing affairs at the UAE Ministry of Health, along with Essam El Shammaa and Abdulmajeed Al-Zubeidi were each awarded for their roles in developing a quality healthcare sector.
  • Jacques René Renaud was honoured for his efforts to help the UAE in the conservation of the endangered Houbara bird species.
  • Other recipients include Mohammed Ahmed Al-Murr for his role in the fields of literature and arts, Zaafarana Ahmed Khamis for her endeavours in support of athletics, late Mohammad Bakhit Al Ketbi for his outstanding service in the UAE Armed Forces.
