Sharjah: Sharjah City Municipality initiates the issuance of permits for preparing and selling food to non-Muslims during daylight hours throughout Ramadan. This proactive measure aims to accommodate the dietary needs of non-Muslim residents and visitors during the holy month.

The permits extend to various establishments, including commercial centers, cafeterias, pastry shops and bakeries, catering to the diverse culinary preferences of Sharjah's cosmopolitan community.

To ensure food safety and hygiene, establishments must adhere to specific regulations outlined by the municipality. Director of the Health Control and Safety Department, Jamal Al Mazmi, elaborated on the stringent guidelines governing food handling practices during Ramadan.

Food must be presented in stainless steel containers or airtight glass boxes, maintaining hygienic conditions and preventing contamination. These measures target the municipality's efforts to ensure public health and safety.

Maintaining optimal food temperatures is paramount to prevent spoilage and ensure consumer safety. Food displayed during daylight hours must be kept at appropriate temperatures, enhancing the overall quality and freshness. Interested establishments can apply for permits at designated centres across Sharjah. The streamlined application process aims to expedite approvals and facilitate seamless compliance with regulatory requirements.

The municipality designates multiple centres for permit applications, including Nasiriyah Centre, Permits Centre, Number One Centre and various others, ensuring accessibility and convenience for applicants.

In addition to issuing permits, the municipality provides comprehensive guidance and support to establishments seeking to comply with regulatory standards. From application assistance to compliance consultations, the municipality offers holistic support to facilitate smooth operations.

Sharjah City Municipality's proactive approach to issuing permits for daytime Ramadan food sales satisfies the diverse needs of the community. By fostering inclusivity and ensuring regulatory compliance, the municipality promotes a vibrant and inclusive Ramadan experience for all residents and visitors.
