Sharjah ruler directs assessment of damage after record-breaking rains in UAE

Sharjah: Following the unprecedented rainfall that swept across the UAE, resulting in significant damage, Sharjah's Ruler, Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, has issued directives to promptly evaluate the aftermath of the weather conditions.

Relevant authorities in Sharjah have been instructed to commence immediate assessments of the damage. This directive aims to address the impact on infrastructure and residential areas.

Sheikh Dr. Sultan emphasised the importance of coordination among various governmental entities to confront the effects of the weather and expedite support measures. Collaboration between Sharjah Police General Command, Civil Defense Authority, Department of Social Services, municipalities and other competent authorities is underway to ensure a comprehensive response.

President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed has ordered a comprehensive study of the country's infrastructure to evaluate its resilience against such extreme weather events. Additionally, Vice-President Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has expressed appreciation for the dedicated efforts of citizens and residents in responding to the challenges posed by the weather conditions.

UAE leaders have reiterated their commitment to prioritising the safety and well-being of the people above all else. Measures are being taken to mitigate risks and provide necessary support to affected communities.
