Saudi Arabia’s Supreme Court has called on Muslims across the Kingdom to sight the crescent moon of Ramadan on Tuesday evening.

In a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency, the court urged anyone who sees the crescent, whether with the naked eye or through binoculars, to report to the nearest court and register their testimony. Those who sight the moon may also contact the nearest centre for assistance in reaching a court.

The court encouraged individuals who are able to observe the crescent to join official moon-sighting committees formed in different regions.

Tuesday marks the 29th day of Shabaan. If the crescent is sighted on Tuesday night, Ramadan will begin on Wednesday. If it is not sighted, the month of Shabaan will complete 30 days and Ramadan will begin on Thursday.
