Riyadh: Saudi King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (K SRelief) was awarded Somalia's Medal of Honor by Somalian Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble, Arab News reported citing Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The award was received by the director of KSrelief's African branch, Yousef Al-Rahma.

K SRelief won the honour for its "distinguished efforts, rapid response, and interventions in providing urgent humanitarian and relief assistance to the displaced and those affected by drought in Somalia," Arab News quoted SPA.

Among the humanitarian aids by K SRelief, the latest was the distribution of 2,838 tons of food baskets to benefit 2,54,184 people.

Further, the Somalian PM also presented Saudi's ambassador to Somalia, Ahmed bin Mohammed Saleh Al-Mawlid. This was in recognition of the former Saudi ambassador Dr Mohammed Abdulghani Khayat's works.

Later, the PM held talks with Al-Mawlid and Al-Rahma, discussing ways to strengthen the two countries' cooperation. The PM extended his gratitude to the Saudi King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, along with KSrelief, for its aid to Somalia. He said that the aids had created a positive relationship between Saudi and Somalia.

Al-Mawlid thanked the Somalian government and the PM for the award and promised Saudi's continuing support for the Somalian population.
