Saudi Arabia’s Interior Ministry has confirmed that the "Use of Security Surveillance Cameras" law prohibits the unauthorized transfer or publication of surveillance camera recordings.

According to the ministry, such recordings can only be shared or published with explicit approval from the ministry or the Presidency of State Security. Exceptions include judicial orders or requests made by investigating authorities.

The ministry emphasized that violators of this regulation will face a fine of SR20,000 ($5,327). The penalty applies to those who transfer or publish recordings unlawfully and also to anyone found damaging or vandalizing security camera systems or their recorded data.

The announcement underscores the kingdom's commitment to safeguarding security-related information and ensuring responsible use of surveillance systems.
