Jeddah: In a first, the Saudi Electronic University (SEU) entered the list of global universities in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, Arab News reported.

SEU bagged the 401st position among 600 globally recognized universities. The Times list evaluated SEU's performance as per the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, which include equality in education and opportunities for all.

Further, SEU got a seat among the top 300 universities globally in the 17th UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). The university ranked 101 out of 200 in "quality education", the fourth goal among SDGs and 201 out of 300 in "reducing inequalities", the 10th goal of SDGs. In the third SDG, "good health and well being", SEU reached 301 of 400.

In "gender equality and women empowerment", the fifth SDG, SEU lasted 300 out of 400 global universities.

In July 2020, Lilac Al-Safadi became the first woman president of the SEU. She said that the university had succeeded in many aspects, such as building a regional role in learning and adding the university to the indicators of global university rankings.

Meanwhile, the University of Business and Technology, Jeddah, reached a new milestone by ranking in the top 400 universities worldwide. It's a contribution to UN goals of reducing inequalities, obtaining reasonable work and gaining economic growth. Here women make up 40 per cent of the university's senior leaders and 54 per cent of the universities labour committee, which was one of the first formed in Saudi Arabia.

The university provides the apt environment to attract talent and provides a suitable space for people who have special needs.
