During the meeting, the crown prince congratulated Yaghi on receiving the award and wished him continued success, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
Yaghi was awarded the 2025 Nobel Prize in Chemistry alongside Richard Robson of the University of Melbourne in Australia and Susumu Kitagawa of Kyoto University in Japan.
The Nobel committee cited the three scientists for their work on molecular structures with large internal spaces that allow gases and other chemicals to pass through. These structures, known as metal-organic frameworks, can be used to harvest water from desert air, capture carbon dioxide, store toxic gases and support chemical reactions.
Yaghi thanked the crown prince for the meeting and expressed appreciation for the support provided for his scientific work.
