French President Emmanuel Macron has confirmed that he and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman will co-chair the Conference on the Two-State Solution in New York on September 22. The announcement comes amid renewed international efforts to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through diplomatic engagement.

Macron voiced sharp criticism of Washington’s decision to deny visas to Palestinian officials, calling it “unacceptable” and urging U.S. authorities to reverse the move. He said the action was in violation of the UN Host Country Agreement, stressing that it must be overturned to ensure Palestinian participation in the upcoming conference.

“Our objective is clear: to rally the broadest possible international support for the Two-State Solution, the only way to meet the legitimate aspirations of both Israelis and Palestinians,” Macron said.

He emphasised that achieving a lasting resolution would require a permanent ceasefire, the release of all hostages, the delivery of large-scale humanitarian aid to Gaza and the deployment of a stabilization mission. Macron also outlined post-conflict plans, stating that efforts are underway to ensure that “the day after” Hamas would be disarmed and excluded from governance, while the Palestinian Authority would be reformed and strengthened and Gaza fully reconstructed.

Rejecting any attempts to undermine the peace process, Macron declared, “No offensive, annexation attempt or forced displacement of populations will derail the momentum we have created with the Crown Prince momentum that many partners have already joined".

He concluded with a call for global collaboration ahead of the summit, “See you in New York on September 22. Together, let us make this Conference on the Two-State Solution a decisive turning point for peace and security for all in the region".
