Riyadh: Saudi authorities have issued severe weather warnings for most parts of the Kingdom until Friday, urging residents to take precautionary measures in light of forecasted extreme weather conditions.

The National Center of Meteorology has forecasted moderate-to-heavy rain, high winds, hail and thunder in regions including Madinah, Makkah, Jeddah, Baha and Najran. Residents are advised to remain vigilant and stay indoors during stormy weather.

Saudi Arabia’s General Directorate of Civil Defense has issued severe weather warnings accompanied by safety instructions. Most parts of the Kingdom are expected to experience moderate-to-torrential thundershowers, prompting authorities to urge residents to take precautions and adhere to safety guidelines.

Schools and universities in Jeddah, Makkah and Madinah regions have switched to online classes. Several educational institutions, including King Abdulaziz University and Taibah University, have closed temporarily and postponed exams.

Jeddah Municipality has implemented a field plan to deal with the weather conditions and urged residents to exercise caution, especially around flooded areas. Authorities are taking proactive measures to ensure public safety and minimize risks.

Authorities are conducting inspections of dam safety in various regions to mitigate risks associated with heavy rainfall. The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture is closely monitoring the situation and implementing safety measures to protect infrastructure and residents.

Riyadh region experienced a heavy sandstorm accompanied by high winds on Sunday night, leading to reduced visibility and disruptions. The National Center of Meteorology has issued a red alert for dust storms in parts of the Riyadh region, including the capital.
