Riyadh: Saudi Arabia assured that it would reinforce partnership and cooperation with the United Nations and its bodies in development and women empowerment, Arab News reported.

The Humanitarian and Cultural Committee of Saudi's Permanent Delegation to the UN, Sulafa bint Hamid Mousa, but added that the Kingdom would only accept what is in line with regulations within the country as well as religious and cultural values.

Addressing the 66th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW66) on Friday- titled "Achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls in the context of climate change, environmental and disaster risk reduction policies and programs"- Sulafa said that Saudi has implemented many necessary preventive measures through many projects regarding the protection of the environment and addressing the effects of climate change. The Kingdom is keen to set consideration for women's participation in the projects as well as policy-making, she said.

She talked about the agreements met in the session for women, such as achieving gender equality, involvement of women in policies, providing a women-friendly work environment that guarantees occupational health, safety and equal remuneration for work in every field.

She demanded laws and regulations to stop discrimination against women, particularly in policy-making and programmes related to climate change, environment and disaster risk reduction.
