The Centre on Monday informed the Kerala High Court that Saudi Arabia has withdrawn its ban on travellers from India. The court was hearing a plea by a man seeking a third jab of an internationally approved vaccine so that he could go back to the Gulf country, where he worked as a welder before the outbreak of the pandemic, for work.

Though the man received two doses of Covaxin, it was earlier not approved by Saudi Arabia. He then moved the High Court, seeking direction to the State and Centre to administer him a third dose of an internationally recognised vaccine like Covishield.

Earlier, the HC had asked the Centre whether it is not the government's duty to redress the grievance of a citizen who loses their livelihood due to the vaccine administered by the State.

The court disposed of the plea after the central government informed Justice PV Kunhikrishnan that the Gulf country has withdrawn the travel ban on India, and therefore, the plea has become infructuous.
