Riyadh: The Saudi Ministry of Justice (MoJ) has launched a new application to aid labour courts and make it easier to give workers more information on their rights, the state-run news agency SPA reported.

The new application, Labour Calculator, is also part of digitalization being implemented in the country's courts and dispute resolution authorities. Users can also view their terms and conditions as they have access to digitised contract documents through the application.

The new system was introduced to protect workers from exploitation and unfair labour practices said, officials.

The initial version of the app aims to encourage legal awareness, facilitate the efficient implementation of labour laws and ensure transparency and accuracy in financial settlements, according to MoJ. "The calculator is comprehensive and user-friendly, includes all sections on a single web page, and allows users to print out results," the ministry said.

The application will offer resolution in case of any employer-employee disputes and raise awareness about the rights and responsibilities of the worker and employer. The services provided through Labour Calculator include major financial dues stated in the Labor Law that are end-of-service benefits, overdue wages, leave salary, overtime, and compensation for arbitrary termination.

Users can also access the calculator through the website تفاصيل الخدمة (moj.gov.sa). The Ministry added that it will soon expand the application with more facilities and will ensure the full digital transformation of all its operations to benefit citizens and expatriates.
