Riyadh: The King King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief) has started voluntary programmes to address blindness and its diseases in Sudan and Niger. The centre also started providing winter clothes for the refugees from Palestine and Syria in Jordan, Arab News reported.

The health programmes on blindness are going on under the "Saudi Noor Voluntary Program". It is being run by voluntary medical teams, who conduct medical examinations, cooperating with Al-Basar International Foundation. The event was launched on November 1 to 7.

A KSRelief examined 1,630 patients in Sudan and supplied 256 pairs of glasses and 292 prescriptions, and conducted 146 surgeries. In Niger, the team examined 3,197 patients, provided 622 pairs of glasses and conducted 247 surgeries.

The drive in both countries on combating blindness as well as the distribution of winter clothes in Jordan comes under the humanitarian and relief projects by Saudi Arabia, represented by KSRelief.
