Over 57,000 tonnes of Zamzam water provided to Prophet’s Mosque visitors in 2024
text_fieldsSince the start of 2024, approximately 57,923 tonnes of Zamzam water have been provided to visitors of the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah, Saudi Arabia. The General Authority for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque reported that the water was transported via 3,348 advanced tankers to ensure its safety and prevent contamination.
To guarantee the water’s safety and quality, more than 23,000 samples of Zamzam water have been analyzed. A highly specialized technical team conducts daily examinations of over 80 samples, utilizing state-of-the-art equipment, the authority said.
Furthermore, over 208 million drinking cups of Zamzam water have been consumed by visitors so far this year, as per the data provided by the mosque’s authority.
The authority’s efforts are aligned with its broader vision of offering top-tier services to pilgrims and visitors of the Two Holy Mosques, while also promoting the global dissemination of guidance and best practices.
The Zamzam well, located in Makkah, 21 meters east of the Kaaba, has held significant spiritual value for Muslims for thousands of years. At a depth of 30 meters, the well continues to be a vital source of water for millions, embodying both religious significance and a connection to the rich history of Islam. For many Muslims, drinking Zamzam water is an act of spiritual devotion, as it is believed to bring blessings and well-being.
