The Holy Makkah Municipality has launched the Makkah Winter Initiative to turn the city’s winter season into a sustainable tourism and entertainment experience.

The program will introduce seasonal destinations that promote local commerce, support small businesses and improve the city’s urban and recreational environment.

Officials said the initiative leverages Makkah’s mild winter climate to establish safe sites for residents and visitors. These spaces will host cafés, hospitality venues and small entertainment projects designed to stimulate local economic activity.

Community-based programs are also included to engage neighborhoods, attract tourists and enhance public areas to meet high living standards and provide welcoming spaces for all.

According to the municipality, the initiative is part of a broader plan to organize tourism seasons while maintaining a balance between investment, community participation and Makkah’s cultural and visual identity.
