Indian Embassy in Riyadh celebrates 79th Independence Day

Riyadh – The Embassy of India in Riyadh celebrated the 79th Independence Day of India on August 15 with spirited participation from around one thousand attendees, including members of the Indian community, embassy officials, journalists and friends of India in Saudi Arabia.





The event commenced with the hoisting of the tricolour by Ambassador Dr. Suhel Ajaz Khan, followed by the singing of the national anthem. Ambassador Khan paid floral tributes at the bust of Mahatma Gandhi before reading out the President of India’s message to the nation and Indians worldwide.

Later, in his keynote address, Ambassador Khan highlighted the close bilateral partnership between India and Saudi Arabia and the significant role played by the Indian diaspora in making this relationship vibrant and robust.

The remarks were followed by cultural performances by Indian community members showcasing the rich diversity of India. The cultural program was an eclectic mix of patriotic songs and classical dance performances.





Following the ceremony, Ambassador Khan engaged with members of the Indian community, strengthening further dialogue and connection.

In the lead-up to Independence Day, embassy officials, their families and Indian community members actively participated in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, reflecting deep patriotic sentiment and pride in the national flag.




Additionally, a special cleanliness drive was held at the Embassy under the ‘Har Ghar Swachhata’ campaign, aiming to promote a clean and pleasant workplace while reinforcing a spirit of service and efficiency.
