The Indian Embassy in Riyadh hosted celebrations for India’s 77th Republic Day, with members of the Indian community attending official observances and cultural programs.

Nearly 500 people attended, including senior figures from the Indian diaspora, recipients of the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Awards, embassy officials and local media representatives.

The program began with Ambassador Dr Suhel Ajaz Khan unfurling the Indian Tricolour, followed by the National Anthem. Floral tributes were laid at the bust of Mahatma Gandhi at the embassy premises.

Ambassador Khan read the address of the President of India during the ceremony, delivering messages on national growth, unity and resilience to Indian citizens living in Saudi Arabia.

Cultural performances followed, with schoolchildren and community members presenting classical and contemporary dance routines. Vocal performances featured patriotic songs.

Part of the program focused on the 150th anniversary of India’s national song, Vande Mataram. A thematic photo booth was set up to inform attendees about the song’s history and significance.

After the performances, Ambassador Khan met members of the Indian community and Saudi media representatives to discuss cultural ties between India and Saudi Arabia.
