India Embassy in Riyadh celebrates Armed Forces Veterans’ Day
text_fieldsThe Embassy of India in Riyadh commemorated Armed Forces Veterans’ Day on 16 January 2026 with an event honoring veterans of the Indian Armed Forces and their contributions to the country.
The program was attended by India’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Dr Suhel Ajaz Khan, along with veterans and their family members, members of the Indian community, officials from the embassy, and students from Indian schools in Riyadh.
In his address, Ambassador Khan spoke about the role and relevance of India’s veteran community and referred to the participation of Indian military contingents in United Nations peacekeeping missions. Veterans present at the event shared personal accounts of their service careers and spoke about their lives after retirement, including their experiences living in Saudi Arabia.
Students from Indian schools in Riyadh presented patriotic cultural performances, including songs, dances and a skit centred on the service, sacrifice and values of the Indian Armed Forces. As part of the ceremony, the ambassador presented commemorative gifts and copies of the Samman magazine to the veterans in recognition of their service.
On the same occasion, Ambassador Khan inaugurated a photo exhibition, “Human Cost of Terrorism”. The exhibition focused on the impact of terrorism on individuals and communities and highlighted India’s efforts to address and counter terrorism.
