Hyderabadi man stranded in Saudi Arabia returns home after LuLu Group chairman’s intervention

A 56-year-old Hyderabadi man who was stranded in Saudi Arabia after suffering a stroke and facing a travel ban has returned home after LuLu Group founder and chairman M.A. Yusuff Ali intervened, according to media reports.

Mohammed Abdul Aleem, a resident of Chandrayangutta, had worked as a salesman in Saudi Arabia for more than 15 years.

During his time there, he bought a car on instalments. He later returned to India after his wife became seriously ill. After her death, he stayed in India for nearly three years and was unable to continue the vehicle payments.

Aleem later went back to Saudi Arabia on a new visa and found work as a house driver. By then, the unpaid dues had led to a Saudi court imposing a travel ban, preventing him from leaving the country.

His condition worsened after he suffered a stroke that left one side of his body paralysed.

After treatment at King Abdulaziz Hospital in Jeddah, he was admitted to Waqf Darakum, a charitable shelter in Al Sharafiyah, as there was no one to care for him after discharge.

According to TwentyFour News, Yusuff Ali stepped in after the channel reported Aleem’s case. He cleared the outstanding vehicle dues and asked LuLu Group representatives to complete the legal procedures needed for his return to India.

LuLu Saudi Director Mohammed Haris later visited the shelter and handed over flight tickets for Aleem and the caregiver accompanying him.

The Indian Consulate in Jeddah completed the remaining formalities, including issuing an Emergency Certificate and processing Aleem’s final exit from Saudi Arabia.

Reports said social welfare committee member Shameer Nadvi accompanied Aleem on the journey home, while LuLu Regional Director Abdus Salam and LuLu representative Abdul Majeed assisted with the repatriation process.

Aleem’s return reunites him with his family after years of personal, financial and medical difficulties.
