Makkah: The Hira Cultural District in Makkah has emerged as a vibrant tourist destination and a center for intellectual exploration, serving rich cultural history.
Situated adjacent to Jabal Al-Noor, the district spans an impressive 67,000 square meters and features a comprehensive visitors' center, providing insights into the district's history and offerings, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency.
Visitors to the neighborhood can enjoy a diverse range of cultural services and activities. The Revelation Exhibition intricately narrates the story of revelations bestowed upon prophets, culminating with the narrative of Prophet Muhammad. Utilizing innovative technology, viewers embark on an immersive audiovisual journey through this pivotal historical event.
The Holy Qur'an Museum, another highlight of the project, showcases the magnificence and universality of the Qur'an through innovative displays and unique collections, emphasizing its significance and preservation. Additionally, the district houses a cultural library and a serene garden for relaxation.
The district offers a delightful culinary experience with a variety of restaurants and cafes. Visitors can also explore the Saudi Coffee Museum, where they can indulge in traditional Saudi coffee while learning about its history, ingredients and preparation methods.
Overseen by the Royal Commission for Makkah City and Holy Sites, the project is a collaborative effort involving the Emirate of Makkah, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Tourism, the Municipality of the Holy Capital, the Guests of God Service Program and the General Authority of Endowments.
The district has quickly recieved international recognition, with dignitaries from various countries visiting and commending Saudi Arabia's efforts in enriching the cultural and religious experiences of visitors and Umrah performers. Recent visitors include Indonesian First Lady Iriana, Maldives Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer, President of the Directorate of Religious Affairs of Turkiye Dr. Ali Erbas and Tunisian Minister of Religious Affairs Ibrahim bin Mohammed Al-Shaibi.
