The Royal Institute of Traditional Arts (Wrth) has launched a cultural initiative to welcome pilgrims arriving in Saudi Arabia for Hajj, offering them handcrafted gifts that celebrate the Kingdom’s rich artistic heritage.

In collaboration with the Pilgrim Awareness Center and Saudia airline, Wrth distributed culturally themed prayer rugs and medallions featuring Arabic calligraphy and traditional motifs. Informational cards detailing Hajj rituals accompanied the gifts, enhancing both the spiritual and cultural dimensions of the pilgrimage.

The gifts were handed out at major entry points, including King Abdulaziz International Airport, Jeddah Islamic Port and the Hajj dispatching control center on Hijrah Road.

The initiative forms part of Saudi Arabia’s “Year of Handicrafts” and reflects Wrth’s mission to promote traditional arts, enrich the pilgrim experience and highlight the Kingdom’s national identity on a global stage.

Additionally, Wrth has completed a billboard project along the historic Hijrah Road between Makkah and Madinah in partnership with the Roads General Authority. The billboards feature traditional designs inspired by local crafts such as weaving, promoting cultural tourism and celebrating Saudi heritage.
