JEDDAH: Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development announced on Tuesday that Hajj 2022 saw 100,570 volunteers who helped the pilgrims perform their rituals with ease.

The ministry added that this year there were more than 35,000 volunteer opportunities that were made available. These initiatives are intended to contribute to achieving the country's Vision 2030.

There were several areas where volunteers were able to assist the pilgrims during the Hajj season most notably health, organization, services, community, education, and awareness, the Arab News reported.

According to the ministry, young men and women volunteers were involved in assisting the pilgrims at multiple locations from the moment of their arrival in coordination with the concerned authorities at land and sea ports, airports, grouping and screening points. This continued to the Grand Mosque and the holy sites of Mina, Arafat and Muzdalifah and the central area around the mosque.

They also helped in the accommodation of the pilgrims and provided them with all facilities without any hassle.

In order to provide better field, organizational and hospitality services to pilgrims, the Ministry has worked to attract volunteers according to their experience and skills to participate in initiatives at the Grand Mosque and Holy Places.

Their volunteer hours are aggregated through the National Volunteer Work Platform and awarded a certificate in recognition of their efforts and dedication.
