Riyadh: The freshly published QS World University Rankings for 2023 have included sixteen universities from Saudi Arabia, Arab News reported citing the Saudi Press Agency report on Thursday.

The list was compiled by the United Kingdom-based analytics firm Quacquarelli Symonds, which specializes in global higher education institutions. The new index states that there has been a consistent increase in Saudi universities getting included in it in the last five years.

In 2019, nine universities were included in the rankings, while it reached 10 in 2020, 11 in 2021 and 14 in 2022 rankings, then the 16 in 2023.

The latest rankings had included 1,300 universities worldwide, and Saudi is only six positions away from including one of its universities within the top 100. King Abdulaziz University (KAU) is at 106 positions finishing three more positions higher than last year. KAU is followed by King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals at 160 and King Saud University at 237, while Al-Faisal University and the Northern Borders University are also included in the list.

The QS index is one of the main evaluations of universities globally, and they were assessed by more than 1,30,000 experts.
