Qatar: Indian Embassy rescues six women stranded over job fraud

The Indian Embassy in Qatar has successfully facilitated the return of six Indian women who were stranded in Doha after being deceived with false assurances of employment. The embassy intervened following a direct appeal from the women, ensuring their safe repatriation to India on Tuesday, April 22.
The mission provided an update on social media platform X the following day, sharing photographs of the women shortly before their departure.
“Six Indian ladies were stranded in Doha, Qatar on false promises of employment. Embassy of India, Doha facilitated their repatriation to India yesterday,” the post said.
This incident is part of a broader pattern of support extended by Indian diplomatic missions across the Gulf region. On March 10 this year, the Indian Embassy in Riyadh helped repatriate five women facing similar challenges. Later, on March 30, the embassy also facilitated the return of a woman who had been stranded in Saudi Arabia for 24 years.
The Indian government has reiterated its commitment to protecting the welfare and rights of its nationals abroad, with its embassies actively responding to distress calls and employment fraud cases involving vulnerable groups, particularly women.
