Doha: Qatar held funeral services for the six who died in Israeli strikes, claimed to be targeting Hamas leaders in Doha, while Arab leaders continue visiting the nation expressing solidarity, Al Jazeera reported.

According to Al Jazeera, the mood has been sombre since the death toll from Israel’s failed assassination attempt against the leadership of Hamas in Doha was announced earlier this week. The Qatari Prime Minister gave special prayers to one person who died in the attack and whose coffin, bearing a Qatari flag, was brought to Doha’s Imam Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab Mosque. Footage of the event showed five people bearing Palestinian flags accompanying the coffin.

Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani said that Qatar stands by its people, especially with those who gave their lives in this unprecedented attack on a Gulf Cooperation Council country.

The attack on Doha happened on Tuesday when Hamas leaders were meeting to discuss a Gaza ceasefire proposal tabled by US President Donald Trump. The Israeli strikes killed at least six people, and five of them were low-ranking Hamas members.

The attack also killed Qatari Lance Corporal Badr Saad Mohammed al-Humaidi al-Dosari.

Following the attack, Donald Trump reacted that he felt “very bad” about the location of the attacks and was “not thrilled” with Israel’s action.

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared on Thursday that there will be no Palestinian state and that the region belongs to Israel. The Zionist leader signed an agreement, officially moving forward with his settlement expansion plan in the occupied West Bank. The move will make any future Palestinian state virtually impossible, Al Jazeera reported.
