Kuwait’s Ministry of Education announced that all public and private schools will close on Thursday, 11 December 2025, as a precaution due to expected rain. The decision followed an updated weather forecast from the Meteorological Department.

Acting Director of the Meteorological Department Dharar Al-Ali said scattered thunderstorms of varying intensity are expected across the country, with winds projected to exceed 45 kilometres per hour. He said conditions should begin to improve gradually from Thursday evening.

Al-Ali noted that weather maps, pressure distributions and numerical models show Kuwait has been affected since early Wednesday by an extension of a surface low-pressure system carrying warm, humid air. This has combined with an upper-level low-pressure system linked to a cold air mass. According to Al-Ali, this combination has increased low and medium-level clouds, including cumulonimbus clouds.

He said thunderstorms may range from light to moderate, with some areas experiencing heavy and thundery activity. He also warned of light to moderate southeasterly winds that may exceed 45 kilometres per hour at times, along with reduced horizontal visibility in some areas due to fog. Marine conditions are expected to include waves rising above six feet.
