Kuwait Amir discusses Middle East developments with US Secretary of State
text_fieldsKuwait’s Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah received US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Wednesday for talks on developments in the Middle East and relations between Kuwait and the United States.
Mr Rubio, who is visiting Gulf Arab countries as part of a regional tour, conveyed greetings from US President Donald Trump to Sheikh Meshal.
The Amir returned his greetings to President Trump and the American people.
The meeting focused on the historic relationship between Kuwait and Washington and ways to further strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
Regional developments in the Middle East and wider international issues were also discussed during the talks.
The meeting was attended by senior Kuwaiti officials, including Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs Sheikh Hamad Al-Sabah, Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Al-Sabah, Chief of the Amir’s Office retired Lieutenant General Jamal Al-Theyab, Amiri Diwan Undersecretary Sheikh Abdulaziz Al-Sabah, Amiri Diwan Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs Mazen Al-Issa and Kuwait’s Ambassador to Washington Sheikha Al-Zain Al-Sabah.
