Israeli drone strike kills four Hezbollah fighters in Syria: war monitor

Reports from the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights confirmed that four individuals associated with Hezbollah were killed in a recent Israeli drone strike in Madinat al-Baath, near the Israeli-annexed Golan Heights in southern Syria.

Rami Abdel Rahman, head of the observatory, noted that the deceased were "working on behalf of Hezbollah." While their nationality remains unverified, they were confirmed not to be part of the Syrian army, reported AFP.

The strike followed Israel's missile attack near Damascus and a military post in the Quneitra province, retaliating for an earlier assault on the Israeli-annexed Golan Heights.

This incident marks another deadly engagement after a December 2 airstrike by Israel near Damascus, which claimed the lives of two Syrian Hezbollah fighters and two Iranian Revolutionary Guards officers. Simultaneously, Iran's Revolutionary Guards acknowledged the demise of two members on an "advisory mission" in Syria.

Israel has executed numerous airstrikes in Syria since 2011, targeting Syrian army positions and Iran-aligned groups like Hezbollah. The November 8 strikes, too, resulted in the deaths of three Hezbollah fighters near Damascus, according to the Observatory.

While Israel rarely comments on its Syrian operations, it remains committed to curbing Iran's influence near its borders.
