Israel pushes deeper in north, south Gaza: kills 6 Palestinians
text_fieldsGaza: Israeli forces pushed deeper into multiple regions in Gaza on Sunday, killing at least six Palestinians and razing down many homes. The army pushed forward in the Shejaia neighbourhood of northern Gaza while western and central Rafah in the south, Reuters reported.
Residents told Reuters that Israeli tanks moved into Shejaia four days ago and fired shells at several houses and left families trapped, making them unable to leave.
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu maintained his stance that there is no substitute for victory in the war against Hamas. He said that Israel is committed to fighting until it achieves all its objectives, such as eliminating Hamas, retuning all of Israel's hostages, ensuring that Gaza never remains a threat to Israel and returning their residents securely to their homes in the south and the north.
Though Israel's offensive is focused on Gaza, in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, a man was killed while five others were wounded in an Israeli attack. The deceased was an operative of Islamic Jihad, Reuters learned.
Meanwhile, Hamas released a video of its weapons-making to show its defiance. This was hours after the comments by the Israeli premier.
Reuters reported that it couldn't immediately verify the video, but it showed fighters preparing anti-tank rocket warheads. There was a large TV in the background that showed recent news events, showing that the video was also recent.
At the end of the video, a writer appears saying, "Our preparation is continuing," Reuters quoted.
On the attack in Shejaia, the Israeli military claimed that it had killed several Palestinian gunmen in the past day and found military infrastructure inside a United Nations school. They also recovered dozens of weapons and "valuable intelligence documents", the military claimed.
