Gaza faces 'most intense' civilian bombardment since WWII: UNRWA
text_fieldsGaza: The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) reported that Gaza has experienced the most severe civilian bombardment in the past year since World War II.
The agency emphasized that the situation of Palestinian refugees continues to be the “longest unresolved refugee crisis” in the world, highlighting that UNRWA’s mission is to provide aid and protection until a fair and lasting resolution is reached, as stated by Xinhua news agency.
The announcement coincided with the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, marked annually on November 29.
Israel has been conducting a large-scale offensive against Hamas in Gaza following an attack by the militant group on October 7, 2023, which resulted in around 1,200 Israeli deaths and approximately 250 hostages taken.
According to Gaza-based health authorities, the death toll from ongoing Israeli military operations in the region has reached 44,363 as of Friday.
