Opportunities to earn British degree in Bahrain at Applied Science University

Manama: Beautiful buildings dominating the sprawling campus and a serene study environment that appeals to anyone, these are the sights that capture our attention as we enter Applied Science University (ASU), a leading private university in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Established in 2004 with the aim of providing world-class education in Bahrain, ASU offers an excellent opportunity to Indian students. It is no small matter that students who go for higher education in the UK can study such courses here at a lower cost in Bahrain. Those who pass engineering courses conducted in collaboration with London South Bank University (LSBU) get a world-class degree certificate.

ASU aims to produce candidates with all the qualifications required by the market. The international standard of study enables students to get the best jobs in the labour market. Nowadays it is easy to get education through the internet, YouTube etc. But how can you ensure that such students can work with a team and perform well under pressure?

ASU President Ghassan Fouad Aouad says that the students who graduate from ASU are sure of their excellence.

'Ambassadors of the University'

In the last 18 years, 6590 students have graduated from Applied Science University. They are working in high positions in Bahrain and other Gulf countries as ambassadors of the university, in the words of Prof.Ghassan Fouad Aouad. The university has already achieved global rankings that are testament to its achievements. The university managed to secure a position of 561-570 in the prestigious QS ranking, which evaluates the world's universities. It is a proud achievement to achieve such a high rank within a short period of time. ASU is ranked 22nd among Arab universities. UK's Quality Assurance Agency which gives accreditation to institutions in the higher education sector has given recognition to ASU last year.

Scholarships for high achievers

The university is also leading in providing scholarships to bright students. Scholarships cover 30 to 40 per cent of tuition fees for British programs. Those who scored more than 85% marks in secondary school examination get a 40% scholarship and those who scored less get a 30% scholarship. Apart from this, there are scholarships for students who excel in fields like sports. ASU President Ghassan Fouad Aouad said that as part of the university's social responsibility, it spends about 80,000 dinars to help poor students every year.

About 10 per cent of the 3,000 students currently studying at ASU are foreign students. The university aims to increase this to 30 per cent in the coming years. The Indian diaspora community in Bahrain and Gulf countries can also avail these opportunities.

Study with modern facilities

Teachers from around 25 countries impart knowledge and experience of different cultures to the students here. A student community that can make tremendous contributions to the progress of society will become an asset to Bahrain's future growth. The classrooms of the university are equipped with modern technologies. Design studios, lecture halls, computer labs, language laboratories and a high-tech library provide the best learning experience to the students.

College of Administrative Sciences, College of Law, College of Arts and Science and College of Engineering are functioning under the University. The College of Engineering conducts undergraduate programs offered by London South Bank University. All these courses are accredited by the Higher Education Council of Bahrain.
