The Federation of Resident Doctors' Association (FORDA) on Saturday said its members will be forced to go for 'mass resignation' from services if their demands for speeding NEET-PG 2021 counselling are not met at the earliest.

On Saturday, scores of resident doctors lit lamps to register their protest, disrupting patient care at different facilities in the city. FORDA, which has been spearheading protests for the last several days, convened a virtual meeting of representatives of resident doctors associations from different states and discussed the future course of the protests.

"Since no concrete measure has been taken by authorities yet in the concerned matter, it was unanimously decided to continue the agitation. During the meeting it was also discussed that protesting resident doctors across the nation will be forced to go forward with mass resignation from services if the demand is not met at the earliest," it said.

A large number of doctors protested outside Nirman Bhawan for the third consecutive day on Wednesday. Nirman Bhawan houses the office of the Union health ministry. In the evening, they assembled on the premises of Maulana Azad Medical College, which comes under the Delhi government, lit lamps and conducted marches.

On Tuesday, doctors threw flowers on security barricades, clanged utensils and clapped in front of Nirman Bhawan. They were symbolically returning the adulation showered on them for being Covid warriors, they said.

Patient care in three Centre-run facilities, including Safdarjung, RML and Lady Hardinge hospitals and some Delhi govt-run hospitals, was affected as protests continued into Saturday.
