22 researchers from IIT Guwahati figure in Stanford University's list of top global scientists

14 scientists from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)- Banaras Hindu University has been named among the list of world's top 2 per cent scientists released by Stanford University. According to the report prepared by Prof. John PA Loannidis of Stanford University and team, the list was compiled after assessing the researchers of various disciplines from across the world.

"The list includes the name of 14 professors of Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University).All these have been selected on the basis of their research paper's international evaluation." IIT BHU Director Pramod Kumar Jain said.

The list that consists of 1,59,683 people has nearly 1500 as scientists, doctors and engineers from India with a majority of them from IITs, IISc and other top institutions. 22 faculty members or researchers from IIT Guwahati working in various departments like civil engineering, mechanical engineering bio engineering etc are also in the list.

Professor TG Sitaram, director of IIT Guwahati said that the recognition of several faculties from IIT Guwahati has placed the institution in a global map bringing pride.
