CUET phase 2 admit cards issued, exams to begin on Aug 4

NEW DELHI: Officials on Tuesday announced that the Candidates who were unable to attend the CUET exam in July in the first phase because of a last-minute centre change and cancellation will be able to get another chance in the second phase which is scheduled to start by August 4.

The admit cards of students whose exams are on August 4, 5 and 6 were released by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on Tuesday, two days before the second phase of the Central University Entrance Test undergraduate (CUET UG) is set to begin.

The admit cards for the examinations that will be held after August 6 will be issued later, NIE reported.

The testing agency also informed that the exams have been shifted from 4th, 5th and 6th August 2022 to 12th, 13th and 14th August 2022 for those who are affected by flood and have other entrance and competitive exams during this period due to various representations.

The first-ever CUET was plagued by technical problems in the first phase. Examinations were cancelled at two centres, one at New Jalpaiguri in West Bengal and the other at Pathankot in Punjab.

The NTA informed that 190 students who could not appear for the examination in these two centres will now appear for the examination. Many students complained that exam centres were changed at the last minute and many missed it. The NTA later formed a committee to look into these complaints and has now allowed 19 students to retake the exam.

"Every effort is being made to provide candidates with their first choice of city. However, due to an insufficient number of registered candidates in a town or an inadequate number of secure nodes, a different city may have been allotted in some cases. This is being done as per the policy of the NTA," NTA said.

However, such candidates have been given a choice to avail of the examination facility in another city which is now allotted or to exercise the option of appearing in the earlier city on a later date i.e. after 10th August.

These candidates are requested to exercise this option before downloading their admit cards and their exams will be scheduled after 10th August. This option is available on the official website of CUET (UG) to download the admit card.

During this period there was also some representation from candidates who appeared for other entrance and competitive examinations or who suffered flood damage. "Such requests have been considered, and their city/date has been changed," the testing agency said.

As in the first phase, the admit card was released two days before the exam. The first phase exams were conducted on July 15, 16, 19 and 20 and the second phase exams will be held on August 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10 and 20.

According to Professor M Jagadish Kumar, the Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC), out of 2,50,495 candidates allotted slots in CUET 2022 Phase I, 1,91,586 appeared for the exam. Phase I recorded 76.48 per cent attendance and 58,909 candidates missed out.

Kumar had earlier informed that around 8 lakh 10,000 students will appear in the first phase and 6 lakh 80,000 students in the second phase of the all-India examination for admission to various UG courses in 44 central universities and 46 other universities in the country.
